A bit about BookSelects
“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” — Ernest Hemingway
You may not meet Albert Einstein, Warren Buffet, Kobe Bryant, Bill Gates and even Ernest Hemingway... but you can meet their most loyal friends. BookSelects is here to be your bridge to them.
Bookselects is the ultimate destination for curated book recommendations from some of the most notable and successful figures across various industries.
At Bookselects, we believe in the power of reading and the value of expert recommendations. That’s why we’ve built a platform where you can easily explore the books that influential leaders, authors, entrepreneurs, and thinkers recommend—organized in a way that helps users find exactly what they are looking for.
With our intuitive interface and smart filtering options, users can quickly discover, for example, "The top fiction books recommended by authors" or "The best investing books suggested by venture capitalists." It is even possible combine categories to get the most personalized list of recommendations.
Who is behind BookSelects
Hi. I am Blake. 👋
I’m giving this section a more personal touch. You might have been expecting a “meet our team” section, but the truth is, I am “the team”.
The idea for BookSelects came from my love for both books and lists—and a bit of hate of wasting time on the wrong book. I used to spend hours choosing my next read, scrolling through blog posts, interviews, and Twitter accounts of people who inspire me. Sure, there are plenty of places online to find book recommendations, but I couldn’t find a place that gathered recommendations from experts I follow, based on my interests. So, I started cataloging book recommendations from people I follow in spreadsheets and decided to make it public.
I have a background in software development, so automating the search to bulk-find book recommendations from influential people worldwide (not just the ones I follow) wasn’t too hard—the hard part was making sure the recommendations were legit. I also have experience and a passion for web design, so I wanted BookSelects to not only have great content but also be wrapped in a beautiful, intuitive interface.
After months of curating content and developing the interface, I launched BookSelects in September 2024, and I hope to keep managing it myself for a long time. I’ve got big plans, which you can check out next.

Brand & Design Philosophy
At BookSelects, our design embodies a unique blend of skeuomorphism and minimalism, creating a user experience that feels both familiar and refreshingly modern.
• Skeuomorphism: We integrate subtle, realistic textures and design elements that mimic physical objects, such as book covers and shelves, to create an intuitive and engaging experience. This approach helps users feel connected to the tactile experience of reading while navigating the digital space.
• Minimalism: Our minimalist design ensures that content remains the focal point, with clean lines, ample white space, and a limited color palette. We prioritize simplicity and clarity, allowing users to effortlessly find the information they need without unnecessary distractions.
This combination of old-world familiarity with modern simplicity gives BookSelects a timeless yet innovative look, making it a visually appealing and functional resource for book lovers and readers. Journalists and web design enthusiasts will find our design approach both innovative and trend-worthy, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary user experience.
